Residency Programs

Training takes place in both inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, as well as community health centers.

The Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior sponsors two psychiatry residency programs that provide training in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. Training takes place in both inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, as well as community health centers. The diversity of greater Providence provides opportunities to work with a variety of populations. The programs also offer extensive research opportunities.

General Psychiatry Residency Program

The residency offers a balanced approach to the study and treatment of psychiatric illness. Its goal is to train physician leaders in clinical and academic psychiatry. Our program provides graded patient care responsibilities for each resident according to their individual experience, interests and needs.

Triple Board Program

The Combined Residency Training Program in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry trains physicians who integrate the clinical knowledge and skills of pediatrics and psychiatry to provide uniquely specialized clinical care for children and their families. Brown's five-year Triple Board Program, one of the original six in the country, has trained residents for over 20 years.
