Psychiatry Fellow Bhargav Patel Receives Indo-American Psychiatric Association Award

Bhargav Patel, MDChild and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow Bhargav Patel, M.D., M.B.A., has received an Outstanding Resident Award from the Indo-American Psychiatric Association (IAPA), a forum for psychiatrists of Asian-Indian origin. The IAPA gave two such awards nationwide this year.

“This feels like a culmination of all the work I’ve put into my career in psychiatry,” Patel said. “I’m really passionate about research and patient care, and this feels like part of the journey towards my long-term goals, of making an impact through medicine.”

A first-year research-track fellow, Patel is interested in researching trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, and resilience. He has co-written a general-interest book on these topics, which is currently in circulation to publishers.

Outside of his academic interests, Patel is also the co-founder and CEO of the vegan nutrition company myPEAK, and medical director and director of AI decision support at Sully.ai, a company that provides AI agents that can assist physicians with functions such as note-taking, information lookup, and decision-making.

Long-term, Patel hopes to open a hybrid telepsychiatry practice in his home state of Georgia to increase access to child psychiatry there.
