Asst. Prof. Ryan Van Patten, Ph.D., ABPP, was honored with a Sidney R. Baer Jr. Career Development Award from the American Neuropsychiatric Association (ANPA) at the organization's annual conference in March. The award recognizes an advanced trainee or faculty member within five years of their post-graduate education whose outstanding accomplishments offer promise of a successful career in neuropsychiatry and the clinical neurosciences.

“I am deeply honored to receive the ANPA Career Development Award,” Van Patten said. “This recognition is especially meaningful because ANPA reflects the integrated brain-mind-body perspective that guides my research, clinical work, and teaching.”

A neuropsychologist at the at the Providence VA Medical Center, Van Patten researches functional neurological disorder, digital neuropsychology, traumatic brain injury, and cognitive rehabilitation. He also coordinates the neuropsychology track of Brown's Clinical Psychology Internship Training Program.

Van Patten co-hosts and co-produces the popular neuropsychology podcast, NavNeuro, which he created with a fellow alum of Brown's clinical psychology training programs in 2018.
