  • DEIB Committee faculty members are a resource for other faculty interested in integrating diversity in their seminar presentations.
  • The DEIB Committee has developed a Tip-Sheet and Bibliography of readings on diversity that available to seminar presenters (core seminars and track-specific seminars).

Consultation for Minority Supplements

  • Research faculty with experience writing minority supplements on NIH grants will assist with matching eligible trainees and faculty and provide consultation on grant writing.

Faculty Cultural Competence Training

  • One of the DEIB Committee initiatives involves providing ongoing training to faculty to enhance cultural competence in research practice and supervision. The committee sponsors faculty training seminars and workshops on diversity related topics.
  • Past topics include: Risë Nelson Burrow on "Mentoring Across Difference: A Training Workshop for Multicultural Faculty Mentoring"; Jessica Henderson Daniel, PhD, on “Learning about Individual Differences: Engagement and Education”.

Diversity Mentoring Program

The primary objectives of the Diversity Mentoring Program are to facilitate networking and career development among trainees and faculty of the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior (DPHB) and the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies (CAAS), as well as to offer trainees and faculty opportunities to discuss clinical, research, and professional issues relevant to diversity in a supportive collegial environment. For our purposes, diversity is defined broadly to include, but is not limited to, issues of gender, religion, culture, age, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, nationality, disabilities, and socio-economic background. You are qualified to be a mentee if you are a trainee or a junior faculty member affiliated with DPHB or CAAS. Look for the next enrollment opportunity via email or contact Dr. Caroline Kuo.
