The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism (DEI/AR) Education Requirement empowers faculty to contribute to DPHB’s mission to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion and promote anti-racism within our clinical, research, and educational settings and in the mental health care community at large.
The DEI/AR Education Requirement Policy
The requirement, administered by the Anti-Racism Steering Committee's Faculty Policies Working Group, is as follows:
- Faculty seeking reappointment must obtain 2 hours of DEI/AR-related training per year, 1 hour of which must be anti-racism in focus.
- Those seeking appointment must submit documentation of 1 annual hour of DEI/AR-related training with appointment materials. New Clinical Instructors seeking appointment are required to view Dr. Tracey Guthrie's talk, "Racism in Academic Psychiatry: Hiding Behind the Cloak of Benevolence."
Eligible Activities
List of Recommended Activities
The working group has compiled a list of recommended on-demand and live activities, updated monthly, that meet the requirement. These listed activities:
- Are accessible to all DPHB faculty
- Have a primary focus on DEI or anti-racist education
- Provide proof of training
SEE THE RECOMMENDED DEI/AR ACTIVITIES
Other Activities Not Listed
Many excellent DEI/AR activities that are not listed in the recommended DEI/AR activities above (because they’re only available to some faculty, for example) may still meet the DEI/AR education requirement if they provide proof of training and have a primary focus on DEI or anti-racist education. If you have participated in an unlisted DEI/AR activity, please submit this request for approval. The working group will evaluate unlisted activities on a case-by-case basis each month.
