Elizabeth Olsen, M.D., a chief fellow in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship, has been announced as one of five recipients of the annual Haffenreffer Family House Staff Excellence Award from Rhode Island Hospital. The award – which was instituted in 1946 and has been awarded continually since 1967 – recognizes residents and fellows in their final year of training who demonstrate excellence in clinical care, leadership, research, and teaching. Candidates are nominated by their program directors or department chairs.
“It is a tremendous honor to be one of this year's recipients of the Haffenreffer Family House Staff Excellence Award,” Olsen said. “Receiving this award has given me a moment to reflect on just how formative the past two years have been on my journey towards becoming a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. I am immensely grateful to Drs. Larry Brown and Jeffrey Hunt for nominating me for this award and for their guidance over the years. I also would like to extend my gratitude to my family, friends, co-fellows, and mentors, whose unwavering support has enabled me to pursue my academic and career goals. I also feel so privileged that I get to do the work that I love every day while surrounded by such wonderful colleagues.”
Upon the completion of her fellowship, Olsen will join Brown's T32 Research Training Program in Adolescent/Young Adult Biobehavioral HIV Research under the mentorship of Larry Brown, M.D., and Laura Whiteley, M.D. Olsen will also remain at Bradley Hospital as a Junior Attending, providing coverage for the inpatient units and partial hospital programs.
