Biography

Dr. Amrita Gill, a postdoc member of the BRIDGE program with a strong focus on understanding and improving youth mental health. She earned her doctorate in Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She was awarded a D43 training grant to examine Violence and Substance abuse among youth living with HIV in India. Amrita's use of mixed methods research to examine distal and proximal stressors among youth and their caregivers led to the development of novel frameworks to assess these stressors and their impact on youth mental health. Her current interest is to utilize geographical ecological momentary assessment to understand the activity spaces of vulnerable youth with HIV and at risk for HIV and develop m-health interventions to improve mental health and high-risk behaviors. She is also working on understanding the role of the school environment in enhancing youth health in projects in Sierra Leone and Colombia.
