Cara Antonaccio, Ph.D.
Biography
Dr. Antonaccio is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University and a member of the Brown Research on Implementation and Dissemination to Guide Evidence Use (BRIDGE) Program.
She received her Ph.D. in Social Work from Boston College in 2022, where her dissertation used supervised and unsupervised statistical learning techniques to examine the complex dynamics of violence against humanitarian operations in conflict-affected communities, and found that violence is driven both by conflict-related dynamics and inner-context implementation factors.
Her research is centered on leveraging computational tools, data analysis, and human-centered design to address complex global challenges stemming from armed conflict, epidemics, and humanitarian crises. She employs a range of methodologies, including advanced statistical learning, epidemiological modeling, mixed methods research, and participatory modeling techniques to investigate and address complex global and local "wicked" problems.
At Brown, she aims to develop and evaluate practical tools to promote the effectiveness and reach of mental health care delivery in complex implementation contexts, using ethical algorithms to enhance mental health interventions for underserved populations, particularly in low-resource and conflict-affected settings. Dr. Antonaccio is passionate about promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in academia and using technology to empower marginalized communities.
