Teri Pearlstein, MD
Biography
Dr. Pearlstein is Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and Professor of Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She has been the Director of Women’s Behavioral Medicine at the Women’s Medicine Collaborative, affiliated with Miriam Hospital, since August 2011. She was the Director of the Center for Women’s Behavioral Health at Women and Infants Hospital from 1996-2011, and the Director of the Women’s Treatment Program at Butler Hospital from 1990-2000. Dr. Pearlstein received her MD from New York University School of Medicine in New York City. She completed both her internship in internal medicine and residency in psychiatry at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Dr. Pearlstein was President of the North American Society for Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2011-2013. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. She was the Treasurer of the International Association for Women’s Mental Health from 2002-2013, and is now a member of the Advisory Board. She is a member of the American College of Psychiatrists, Marcé Society of North America, Postpartum Support International, Rhode Island Medical Society, Rhode Island Medical Women’s Association, and the Rhode Island Psychiatric Society. She has served as principal investigator on numerous research studies, is a member of several journal editorial boards, and is a frequent presenter at national and international meetings. She has published more than 80 peer-reviewed manuscripts in the areas of premenstrual dysphoric disorder, perinatal mood disorders, perimenopause, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other mental health disorders in women.
