Alexa Marie Raudales
Biography
Alexa Raudales graduated with honors from Case Western Reserve University with a B.A. in biology and psychology. Following graduation, she worked as a research assistant at Florida State University under the mentorship of Dr. Norman Schmidt. She then pursued her doctoral training in clinical psychology at the University of Rhode Island (URI) under the mentorship of Dr. Nicole Weiss. Her dissertation, funded by a NIDA F31 National Research Service Award, examined the proximal associations among posttraumatic stress symptoms, suicide risk, and opioid use. Alexa’s work has been recognized with several awards, including an Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) Graduate Student Research Grant and the URI Graduate Student Research and Scholarship Excellence Award. During her clinical psychology pre-doctoral internship at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Alexa expanded her research under the mentorship of Drs. Heather Schatten and Leslie Brick. She was awarded a Brown Seed Money Research Grant to explore the intersection of trauma and suicide among those from systemically marginalized backgrounds. Alexa is thrilled to continue her training at Brown as a postdoctoral fellow on the Suicide Research T32 under the ongoing mentorship of Dr. Heather Schatten. Alexa is deeply grateful to her mentors, cohort, family, and friends for their steadfast support throughout her academic journey.
