Alexis Smith, Psy.D.
Biography
Alexis Smith, Psy.D. (E.P. Bradley Hospital, 9/3/24-9/2/25) received her B.S. in psychology, with an emphasis in child and family, from Cedarville University, in Cedarville, OH. She earned her Psy.D. and M.S. in clinical psychology from Mercer University, in Atlanta, GA. Studying in Atlanta gave her a wide variety of practicum, work, and volunteer experiences in forensic assessment, urban community mental health, neuropsychological assessment, and refugee mental health. She completed a social justice project in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) of Atlanta where she worked to extend the mental health provider referral list for local refugees by connecting the IRC to local clinicians in private practice. This project also launched her dissertation, which was a qualitative exploration of the barriers and facilitators local psychologists face in providing psychological services to the refugee population. She completed her clinical psychology pre-doctoral internship through the National Psychology Training Consortium’s Royal Oaks Hospital/Compass Health Network Dual Track in Missouri which provided her with training in rural outpatient care of children, adolescents, and adults, as well as inpatient care of children and adolescents. Dr. Smith’s postdoctoral fellowship was through The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University’s Clinical Child Psychology Specialty Program. During her fellowship, Dr. Smith gained experience in child, family, and group therapy; crisis stabilization within a short-term therapy clinic; and efficacy research. She is grateful to all of her family members, her professors and cohort members from Mercer University, her clinical supervisors, and her miniature schnauzer, Sinatra, for support along the way.
