Avery Beatty, Ph.D.

Biography

Avery Beatty, Ph.D. (E.P. Bradley Hospital, 9/8/25-9/7/26), graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in psychology from the University of Rhode Island (URI), where she also earned her M.S. in developmental science and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology. At URI, Avery was awarded the prestigious Kulberg Fellowship in recognition of her strong commitment to research and clinical work with youth. She completed her APA-accredited clinical psychology pre-doctoral internship at Franciscan Children’s Hospital in the Acute Psychiatric Track, and completed her APA-accredited postdoctoral fellowship at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, specializing in the manualized treatment and assessment of children in the Children’s Partial Hospitalization Program at Bradley Hospital. Avery has published several papers on adverse childhood experiences, including one of the first studies examining cognitive functioning in children with abuse in a psychiatric inpatient setting. During fellowship, Avery conducted research at CPHP examining if parent and child stress was predictive of treatment outcomes. She was also involved in trainee advocacy and leadership at Brown, serving as the Clinical Child Psychology Specialty Program cohort representative and mentoring undergraduate research assistants through Brown’s RA Mentorship Program. Following fellowship, she plans to continue her work as a psychologist serving children with severe psychopathology in acute care settings. She is deeply grateful to her partner, family, friends, mentors, colleagues, and the Children’s Partial team for their support.
