Elyssa Beth Sham, M.D.
Biography
Elyssa Sham, M.D., graduated from the University of Rochester with a B.A. in Biology and Psychology in 2013. She then moved to Washington, D.C. and worked as a clinical research assistant at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for two and a half years. She remained in D.C. where she attended medical school at George Washington University, before venturing North to Brown where she completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency training in 2024 and has remained for an additional year of fellowship training in Consultation-Liaison (CL) Psychiatry. Upon completion of her CL fellowship this June, she will be joining the DPHB faculty and the Brown University Health Department of Psychiatry where she will be working on the Consultation Psychiatry service at Rhode Island Hospital.
She would like to thank her whole entire family for their strong support throughout her medical training. She would like to thank her fellowship program director, Dr. Colin Harrington, for his outstanding teaching and mentorship throughout residency and fellowship. She would also like to thank her attendings, Dr. Barbara Ruf, Dr. Jeffrey Burock, Dr. Loreen Pirnie, Dr. Jody Underwood, and Dr. Farhad Amani, for being wonderful role models and teachers.
