Gemma Wallace, Ph.D.

Biography

Gemma Wallace, Ph.D. (The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, 8/7/23-4/30/25) received her B.A. in biology from Whitman College magna cum laude in 2014. She earned her Ph.D. in counseling psychology at Colorado State University in 2023 and completed her clinical psychology predoctoral internship at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University from 2022-2023. Gemma remained at Brown to complete her postdoctoral fellowship on the Suicide Research T32 under the mentorship of Drs. Leslie Brick and Heather Schatten. Her research aims to advance suicide prevention by studying how psychological, biological, and socioenvironmental factors influence suicide risk across time. Gemma is the principal investigator of a grant from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to investigate how biological stress responses influence suicide risk in daily life. Gemma is also passionate about using state-of-the-science quantitative methods in clinical research, and she served as postdoctoral representative for the Advanced Methodology and Statistics Seminars and leader of the Clinical Research Methods & Statistics Special Interest Group, both within the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT). Her scholarly work has been honored by awards from the ABCT, Beck Institute, Colorado State University, and Western Psychological Association. Gemma is excited to continue her work as a research psychologist at Butler Hospital with an Assistant Professor appointment in Brown’s Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. She is immensely grateful to the many people who supported and inspired her throughout her training, including her family, friends, faculty mentors, and clinical supervisors.
