Jamilah Silver
Biography
Jamilah Silver graduated cum laude from Northwestern University in 2019 with a B.S. in education and social policy. She then joined the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at Stony Brook University, where, under the mentorship of Dr. Daniel Klein, her research centered on irritability as a transdiagnostic construct—examining its development, antecedents, assessment, underlying mechanisms, and multifinality. Her work has been recognized with support from prestigious funding sources, including an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and a National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Mental Health Research Dissertation Grant (R36). In 2024, Jamilah began her clinical psychology pre-doctoral internship within the Child Track at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, working under the research mentorship of Dr. Lindsay Huffhines. During her internship, she received an Internship Research Grant Award to study pediatric partial hospitalization, focusing on symptom change, mood trajectories, and risk factors in young children. This fall, Jamilah will join the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as an Assistant Professor. She is profoundly grateful for the mentorship, guidance, and support she has received throughout her journey—from clinical supervisors and research mentors to friends, family, and the individuals who have shared their experiences through research and clinical work.
