Marisa Hollinshead, M.D.
Biography
Marisa Hollinshead, M.D., graduated from the University of Washington with a dual degree in Sociology and Society and Justice. After graduation, she moved to Boston where she worked as a research manager at the Center for Brain Science at Harvard University. At the Center, she worked on a study utilizing neuroimaging, genetic, and behavioral methods to study psychiatric illness and properties of brain structure and function that convey risk for disease. She then attended the Northeast Ohio Medical University and Cleveland State University (NEOMED-CSU) Partnership for Urban Health, a program to train physicians who are committed to working with historically underserved populations. In parallel with her medical training, Marisa worked as a member of the research team at the Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods (PRCHN) at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. As a member of the PRCHN, she served as Co-Investigator on a community-based research project that explored the mental health needs of Latine adolescents within Cleveland, Ohio. At Brown, Marisa is part of the NIMH R25 research track with a continued focus on Latine adolescent mental health. Upon graduation Marisa is excited to join her colleagues for fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Brown University. Marisa would like to thank her partner Jon for supporting her during this very long journey. She would also like to thank her amazing family in addition to her friends (including co-residents!), mentors, program directors, faculty, staff and patients.
