
Mindy Michelle Kibbey
Biography
Mindy Kibbey completed her undergraduate studies at Southeast Missouri State University, where she studied French, Spanish, and teaching English to speakers of other languages. After raising a family and teaching English in Singapore, Mindy embarked on a new journey as a research coordinator in the ABUSA Lab at Rutgers University under the mentorship of Dr. Teresa Leyro. Mindy continued with doctoral training at Rutgers, where she was awarded the Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences Excellence Fellowship for Doctoral Study in Psychology, and was mentored by Dr. Samantha Farris. During her graduate career, Mindy has published a number of studies on exposure treatment for anxiety, values-consistent living, measure validation, and physical activity promotion. Mindy has shared this work at invited talks, and her work was recognized with the Outstanding Student Abstract Award by the Society of Behavioral Medicine. Mindy was awarded an NIH NRSA training grant from the National Institute on Aging to develop and test a novel measure of fear-avoidance behaviors that interfere with physical activity among older adults with medical comorbidities. Having completed a clinical psychology pre-doctoral internship within the Behavioral Medicine Track at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University with research mentorship by Drs. Emily Gathright and Carly Goldstein, Mindy is thrilled to be completing her training next year at the Brown University postdoctoral fellowship in Primary Care Behavioral Health at the VA Providence Healthcare System.
