Rebecca K. Raisman
Biography
Rebecca Raisman graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2018 with a B.A. in cognitive neuroscience and a minor in global health and environment. She then worked as a clinical research assistant at the Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute Substance Use Research Center for two years, where she contributed to clinical trials investigated new pharmacotherapies and behavioral interventions for substance use disorders. This position sparked her interest in substance use disorder intervention and treatment, which led her to pursue doctoral training in clinical psychology at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) beginning in 2020. At UIC, Rebecca was mentored by Dr. Robin Mermelstein and Dr. Natania Crane as she continued her clinical and research training focused on the intersection of substance use and behavioral medicine, with a particular interest in perinatal substance use. As a graduate student, Rebecca was accepted as a pre-doctoral fellow on a National Cancer Institute T32 Fellowship focused on cancer health equity and career development. During her pre-doctoral clinical psychology internship at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Rebecca received further training in clinical health psychology, integrated behavioral health, and addiction recovery services. She also conducted research focused on perinatal substance use under the mentorship of Dr. Laura Stroud. Rebecca is thrilled to be continuing her training next year as a postdoctoral fellow in Perinatal Mental Health and Pediatric Primary Care at Cambridge Health Alliance. She is immensely grateful for the support of her mentors, supervisors, peers, family, and friends.
